The 5th Advanced Course in Cell Culture Bioprocess and Bioreactor Engineering was successfully held!

The 5th Advanced Course in Cell Culture Bioprocess and Bioreactor Engineering came to a successful conclusion on December 17, 2021. This training course was organized by Prof. Tan Wensong's team from the State Key Laboratory of Bioreactor Engineering, East China University of Science and Technology, and co-organized by BioEngine. It has been 8 years since the training course was first held in 2013, and the 5 training courses have not only trained many talents for animal cell culture technology and related fields in China but also promoted the rapid development of the biomedical industry based on animal cell culture technology.

This training course continues the excellent tradition of the previous sessions, which is full of dry goods and analyzes the cutting-edge technology of industry development thoroughly and simply. The course content focuses on animal cell culture technologies such as recombinant protein (antibody) drugs, viral vaccines, and stem cell/cellular gene therapy industry, based on the knowledge of cell physiology in process engineering, teaching the methods and experiences of cell culture process and culture medium design, development, and optimization, introducing the analysis and understanding of process data by metrology and kinetic calculation methods, and emphasizing bioreactor engineering He will also discuss the design and optimization of large-scale cell culture processes and their bioreactors and the key engineering issues involved, and discuss the design and optimization of biopharmaceutical product quality regulation from a process engineering perspective.

The poster session and interactive session, which were popular among the participants in the past, were also very enthusiastic this time. The participants had a direct dialogue with the front-line personnel of the cell culture national team on the latest research results of cell culture and exchanged ideas freely.

In this training course, two new interactive sub-forums on antibodies and vaccines were set up, in which domestic elites in the biopharmaceutical industry were invited to share their valuable experience in the industrial application of animal cell culture in drug development, process development, and scale-up.

The advanced training course on cell culture process and bioreactor engineering aim to provide a platform for R&D personnel and production technology managers to learn and communicate, combine basic theory with practical application, and provide new ideas for the participants to solve problems encountered in R&D and industrialization so that they can learn and understand.
