Time:Aug 17,2023 Source:

On August 14th - 16th, the 6th Advanced Course in Cell Culture Bioprocess and Bioreactor Engineering & the 2nd Annual Conference on Cell Culture Engineering and Technology (CCET) was successfully held at East China University of Science and Technology (ECUST). Subsequently, participants were invited to visit our world-class culture medium manufacturing site.

Hosted by Professor Wensong Tan and his team at ECUST’s State Key Laboratory of Bioreactor Engineering and co-organized by Shanghai BioEngine Sci-Tech Co., Ltd. with the support of the Chinese Society of Bioengineering, this event was a symposium which united over 150 technicians from all sectors of cell culture, including R&D, CMC and production, from over 90 Chinese biopharmaceutical companies and research institutes specializing in antibody, vaccine and cell & gene therapy products.

These 3 days were brimming with the exchange of academic knowledge, sharing of practical experience, analysis of theories and more. World-class experts in cell culture engineering lectured in person and answered a voluminous amount of questions in an interactive event packed with discussions on cutting-edge cell culture technologies and the latest industrial application cases.

Many topics were at the center of discussion: cell biology and physiology in process engineering; design, scale-up and optimization of bioreactors; design and optimization of cell culture processes and serum-free media; development and optimization of the production of recombinant proteins and viral vaccines; and group standards and quality management practices for serum-free media; and in-depth exchanges of the latest practical experiences in sub-forums. These were all led by three pundits in cell culture engineering: Professor Wensong Tan, Professor Wei-Shou Hu, and Dr. Weichang Zhou.

Technicians from over 90 biopharmaceutical companies and research institutes united.
